4-year Computrace LoJack Monitoring License**
Computrace LoJack for Laptops is a computer tracking and loss control software service. It can help authorities to determine the location of a lost or stolen laptop when the thieves use it to connect to the Internet. Of the few laptops thefts reported to us by our G2G clients that used LoJack, recovery was 100% successful in each case. Even so, getting a stolen laptop back can take some time. To assist with this, G2G offers, exclusively to students who have purchased a G2G Thinkpad, a loaner laptop for up to a month while police are working with Computrace to recover their machine.

Laptop Security Cable Lock**
Manufactured by Kensington, this cable allows you to lock your laptop to a desk or table in a residence hall room or while working in the library. Using a notebook security cable just may be one of the easiest methods of protecting your notebook against theft.
Please remember that for this cable lock to be effective, it must actually be used. And while a lock can help stop a casual theft, students should still not leave their laptops unattended in a public place.
160GB USB Backup Hard Drive*
A backup drive allows students to save copies of all their work back in their residence hall rooms or apartments. Laptop users are particularly encouraged to regularly back up their hard drives to a separate drive in case the laptop is lost or stolen. Microsoft Vista includes software to make backups easy and painless as long as the drive is regularly plugged into the laptop's USB port.
25 Foot Ethernet Cat5 Cable**
While it's true that VCU maintains a wireless network, the Ethernet cable allows students to plug into the faster and more secure wired network whenever it is convenient. Ethernet ports are available in residence hall rooms (1 port for each bed) and in the library, student commons, and many computer labs and other student lounges. There is no additional charge for students to use the wired network.
